James Masten, PhD, LCSW is the Director of the AHA Project.
Dr. Masten has over twenty-five years experience as a clinician, researcher, educator and advocate with a specialization in HIV and aging. He is the author of Aging with HIV: A Gay Man’s Guide (Oxford University Press, 2011) and has published in the Journal of Gerontological Social Work, International Journal of Group Psychotherapy, AIDS Care, and the Journal of the National Medical Association. Dr. Masten is on the Adjunct Clinical Faculty at New York University School of Social Work, and has provided clinical consultation for Yale University, Duke University and the Medical College of Wisconsin. His work has been featured in the New York Times, The Philadelphia Gay News, Edge Magazines, The Lambda Literary Review, and The Michael Signorelli Show (on Sirius Radio).
